What to Expect

During your admission, you will meet with our admissions counselor, the director of nursing, and the doctor. Please plan to spend approximately 1-2 hours at our office. You will work with this team to complete medical and clinical assessments and initial paperwork.

Our goal is to start you on the appropriate treatment, including medication the same day. In order to receive medication on your first day, you need to have not used for at least 12 hours prior to arriving at the facility. After meeting with the doctor and completing your paperwork you will receive your medication at our nursing station.

• You will need to bring a photo ID in order to be admitted. If you take any prescription medication, bring copies of the prescription with you to your admission appointment. Please do not bring your medications to the clinic.

• Scientific studies show that outpatient programs, like those provided at ARS, are effective in treating substance use disorder (addiction). Research shows that medication-assisted treatment, or MAT, is the safest and most effective treatment available to people suffering from opioid use order, which includes heroin and prescription painkillers. ARS is among the area’s most successful treatment centers with an average of 80% of ARS patients stopping use of illegal opiates after 12 months of treatment.
• At ARS you will create a personalized treatment plan outlining your goals for your recovery. Throughout treatment you will be supported by a team of dedicated professionals.  Addiction is a complex but treatable disease that affects brain function and behavior. No single treatment is appropriate for everyone. Effective treatment attends to multiple needs of the individual, not just his or her substance use. It is important to acknowledge that recovery takes time, and ARS will work with you to ensure treatment fits your schedule. Remaining in treatment for an adequate period of time is critical. Behavioral therapies—including individual, family, or group counseling–are important to success. Medications can also be an important element of treatment for many patients, especially when combined with counseling and other behavioral therapies.

• The initial screening for outpatient addiction treatment with ARS is free and confidential. The cost of outpatient addiction treatment programs is reasonably priced and vary due to the geographic area and level of service provided.  All ARS locations accept some form of insurance.
• ARS also has options for those who are paying for treatment out of pocket. ARS offers an affordable daily rate that includes all your medication, medical appointments, once-monthly drug screens, and counseling services.

All ARS locations accept walk in admissions throughout the week, and all ARS locations are currently accepting new patients.

• Traditional outpatient counseling requires attendance once a week while “intensive outpatient programs” require the attendance of three or four times per week. Medication-assisted treatment programs begin with daily medication appointments that take on average less than 10 minutes. Over time, as you progress in treatment you can receive medication to take home and will have to come to the clinic less often.  ARS offers early morning hours and average medication queue times less than 10 minutes. Our goal is to make treatment convenient for you so that you can balance work and family responsibilities.
• ARS also offers virtual individual and group counseling, so you get the benefits of counseling from your home.

For Professionals

We will then request records to be faxed and if the individual is transferring from another MAT location, we will also need verification of the last medication dose taken and the amount.  Please ensure to send the records in a timely manner to ensure the individual has a smooth transition.

We provide medication in addiction treatment, which provides counseling and medication for individuals with opioid use disorder.  We provide methadone in all locations and buprenorphine and/or vivitrol at many locations as well.  We also provide Intensive Outpatient and Partial Care (Partial hospitalization) in select of our locations.

• Our goal is to consistently provide quality medical and clinical care and continuously work to improve our services to best meet the needs of our clients and the community.  Medication in addiction treatment has been proven to significantly improve outcomes by effectively reducing opioid use, reducing the risk of overdose, and improving social and health outcomes.
• Illicit opioid use is associated with the transmission of infectious disease, increased risk of overdose, unemployment and an increase in crime.  It has been proven that individuals receiving methadone in conjunction with counseling had 33 percent fewer opioid-positive drug tests and were 4.44 times more likely to stay in treatment compared to controls.
